On 28 April  a FEBA representative joined the official launch of the WSS (food Waste- food Security – Food Sustainability) a 3-year EU funded project led by Food Bank Macedonia (FBMK) with the objective to develop food banking in Macedonia.  The launch took place at the EU delegation's offices in Skopje, with more than 50 guests, including representatives of the Prime Minister, Ministries of Social Affairs and Agriculture as well as the Mayor of Skopje Center.

The main mission for the WSS project is: "To foster and support a food banking culture in the country and promote a multi-stakeholder action dedicated to reduction of food poverty rates among low-income and no-income households in the country. "

And main deliverables for the project are:

  •        Raise public awareness on food poverty and waste
  •        Develop a communication campaign and develop materials for school and faculty presentations
  •        Provide sub-grants to food waste prevention projects
  •        Create a "Best Balkan and EU practices on food waste prevention" publication
  •        Contribute to legal food waste prevention research and drafting of food waste law
