World Food Summit focuses on global food challenges


Guests from more than 39 countries and all over the world, including ministers, mayors and business leaders, came to the World Food Summit-Better Food for More People in Copenhagen on 30-31 August to debate and share solutions to promote healthier food, higher food safety, food culture and less food waste.

H.R.H Princess Marie opened the summit at Christiansborg together with the Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Anders Samuelsen and the Minister for Environment and Food, Jakob Ellemann-Jensen. “Our goal for the summit is to mobilise countries, businesses and organisations throughout the world to meet and take action to address the food challenges that are threatening our health and the environment. The summit will help us achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals for 2030,” said the Danish Minister for Environment and Food.

More than 1.3 billion tonnes of food are wasted every year, equivalent to 24% of all the food produced for human consumption. As European Food Banks Federation, we were honoured to contribute bringing the daily contribution of our organization and all members to this outstanding event, together with international influencer and leaders for a common goal: better food for more people.
