
In Europe, 79 million people live below the poverty line and among them, 30 million suffer from malnutrition. (Source: Eurostat and European Congress of Experts on Nutrition, 2009).
The European Federation of Food Banks (FEBA) brings together 240 food banks in 21 countries in Europe. Its goal is to give each person in Europe, access to a sufficient and balanced diet, through the fight against waste and call for solidarity.
In 2010, the European Food Banks collected 359 960 tons of food, worth 992 M€, and distributed them to 4.9million people in partnership with 27,660 charitable organisations and social services.
FEBA is seeking for people with skills in the areas of communication, relations with multinationals and lobbying with the European institutions.

"Volunteer! Make a Difference" European Commission launches the European Year of Volunteering 2011. Main objectives are: lower obstacles to volunteering in the EU, empower volunteer organisations and improve the quality of volunteering, reward and recognise volunteering activities, raise awareness of the value and importance of volunteering. The Commission is working closely with the “Alliance” of volunteering organisations and the Member States. The European Federation of Food Banks (FEBA) is a member of the Alliance.
